I love the challenge of creating knives as sculptural works. Each piece represents the marriage of many different materials. They all speak to me in a different voice and it takes great care to balance them all together in each piece. Most blades are pattern welded steel and are properly heat treated for function. Handles can utilize carved wood or antler, cast bronze, etched brass, and sometimes gemstones. Creating an interesting handle is often more time consuming than making the blade.
